Well. I'm Patrick. I like long walks through the server room, Romantic dinners by RGB light, and long chats in IRC. Looking for a sexy server with a standard sized rack that i can slide blades into whenever they want it. Must know at least basic BaSH language. Hit me up my number is 0x16A45FADE.

Day 17 Post-Coronapocolypse World

Well here we are. School is canceled for the year. we are all dying to the remnants of a terrible virus that has taken over the world.

Over the last couple weeks i caught a nasty sinus infection and because of the virus i decided to stay at home and do nothing.

heres to the rest of the semester and trying to finish it up as much as posible.

WELL THEN! if you have been to this journal for the past few weeks you would know that i have been struggling with ADHD since the start of the semester. Monday of this week i was prescribed a new medication which FUCKED ME UP. it was aweful. i felt as though i had woke up extreemly drunk. im gonna be working on the project more this week.

This week we worked more on the Tutorial. i have still been working on getting the program that we are making to work on retro pie so we will see as time goes if i can get it to finally work. i tried changing teh settings from PAL to NTSC but it still just made the pop pop pop pop noise from the speakers. my goal for this week coming up is to try to jump ahead on the project and get the project done for the class. this way i can keep up on it and make sure i do well as the rest of the semester passes. i have a doctors apointment friday that im going to be talking about my ADD with them and hopefully get some meds that help with concentrating on school work. outside of comporg type things i was able to go snowboarding with my friend this past weekend and was subsequently sore as all hell for the two days afterwards. it was a great time though and im super happy that i was able to go.

or in reality

February 5th, 2020

this week in comporg we continued our road on the tutorial on writing for the 2600. i tried bringing the rom that we have created to my retro pie system and for some reason that i am currently trying to figure out is why it will not work on that version of stella. the versions are the same from the looks of it (both are 5.1) yet all i get is a blank screen and fuzz coming from the speakers. i will be working more on this as we move along the semester. as far as the tutorial is concerned i think its a great tutorial very indepth and easy to understand. i have started working slightly ahead of the class to make sure that i can keep up during class time as i already know im a slow typer and i sometimes get behind while in class trying to type the additions that we have been trying to do.

This week in SysProg we started working on playing with sprite sheets. from tuesdays lesson i decided to start playing around with changing the sprite sheets running and jump animations. from there im thinking about starting to try to remake the first level sans mobs of mario by the end of next week. kind of lofty goal but i believe it is atainable. as i already have a sprite sheet of original mario that is set evenly already its just the matter of setting up the variables of which one is is which sprite and have them rotate or switch with the jump animation.

So for the week since i was unable to connect to fully establish a connection to any sort of server i decided i needed a little project. so i took the powered USB hub that i have laying around as well as a few External Hard drives and a raspi 4b and built a cloud server using NextCloud software and LAMP server. it is still a little buggy but its running for the most part now. its at HTTPS://phasttech.com if you would like to see the progress of it. (get it PHastTech :-) P Hast Tech) well then. now its back to the puzzle time for the week!

January 29, 2020

This has been a hell of a week. Thursday the internet decided to Cut out and refused to come back on. After talking with the ISP and changing out modems, they finally said they could make it to come fix the internet Tuesday morning. so they “Fixed” it and i was still having connection issues. they came this afternoon and it seems to finally be fixed. turns out they had a signal filter that was filtering out more then half of the dB that was supposed to be being recieved. so no i am scrambling to get all my work from the week done in the next few days. so this will probably be a shorter journal as i need to be give myself plenty of time to finish the puzzle fun stuff.

January the 21rd, Year of Our Lorde, Twentieth Twenty

Well. I'm back. after four years you would think id get it through my head that i need to graduate this place. i guess i just like it to much. no that's a bald faced lie. I'm over this place and about 90% of the teachers. thank god Matt and i are close to the same age and i have a lot of respect for the dude cause I wouldn't have came back after last nutso semester. Note to y'all. Don't do the condensed american history 1 class. on top of the 3-5 page essays that were due every week for English, that class wanted 2 5-7 page essays every week on top of the normal Workload of a normal history class. yeah… no thanks that was the hardest i have ever worked at a class to just fail it in the end. enough ranting on my part. This year something has clicked. mainly the fact that i was finally prescribed medicine for the ADD that i have had since i was a wee little child. this is a great feeling to be able to concentrate while working on projects. makes me feel a lot less stupid which i feel when it comes to most “normal” school. I'm not good at writing coherent and concise essays, hence why these journals will continue to look like rambling of a crazy man. that's not gonna change through any of these so here we go lets talk about this week.

well i like the puzzle requirement. i love puzzles and i plan on doing as many puzzles as i can throughout the semester. i have been working on a puzzle game (playing, not writing) that is called “Make It True” it is a game about logic gates and trying to figure out where to put your bits into the gates to make the end result “True” or all gates as providing power to the result. its been a great mind runner for logic running and seeing first hand how gates work with power running through them.

I'm excited to work with the RasPis that i got this year and have so many ideas on what to do with them. one idea was to add a camera to one so that it can record lectures but i thing that idea is going to be morphed into a DIY security system for my house. one is already set for a home/cloud NAS which is a damned life saver for the amount of storage a family with a heavy computer user as well as 4 tech centric teens and i photographic fiend of a wife.

as for my linux workings. i had my 18 year old daughters both learn linux last semester to show them that windows isnt the only way. with one she loves Mint and prefers that over windows now and is slowly learning BaSH. the other… not so much. she hates the linux computer and prefers to use the chromebook the school lent her for the year. lets talk about the irony in that. hates the regular linux computer but loves the linux based google computer…
